DTP might leave Def Jam
By SPATE BLOGS | February 29, 2008 | 2 Comments »
(According to Sohh)
The industry is all a buzz about Disturbing the Peace records. Apparently there is a major shakeup happening as we read.
According
to SEVERAL of my close Def Jam sources all hell is breaking loose on
Ludacris DTP imprint. Apparently when the label brought all their
R&B artists to perform at Spotlight for LA Reid, along with a bunch
of industry heads in NYC earlier this week, the feedback was less then
thrilling. The performances were SOHH lackluster that a source told me that LA told Luda that he can take his acts and “hit the road”.
As
of right now Bobby Valentino, Shareefa, and the extremely talented
Stephan Jones, AKA Mr. Ordinaray has all been dropped. Sources close to
Bobby claim that the artist plans on dropping his next untitled CD on
iTunes. No word yet on where Shareefa, and Steph Jones will end up.
Word
on the streetz is that DTP heads are planning on severing ties with Def
Jam over all the drama. Again, this is what I am hearing. I hope its
not true, but you know I got to keep my readers in the know.”

Sha Stimuli is the future
By SPATE BLOGS | February 22, 2008 | Got a comment? »

Sha Stimuli is one of the most underrated rappers in the world. If you get a chance to listen to his flow, he is one of the most original rap artists out today. Winner of the UMA award for best lyricist but he is still unsigned. He was signed to Virgin but due to record label changes was released from his contract. Defjam expressed interest but a deal was never made many felt that he was too similar to Jigga man. The future looks bright for him because he continuously stays hungry and he loves what he does. He can be seen in some up and coming films that should be coming at you shortly. Make sure that you visit his myspace at www.myspace.com/shastimuli

see about it. But he is really enthusiastic about new releases from
Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Rick Ross and Ludacris. He says we have a
lot of great music coming out this year. We are very excited about it.

TVT fires employees and files for protection
By SPATE BLOGS | February 19, 2008 | 1 Comment »
TVT
records home of lil John has fired most of its employees and if filing
for bankruptcy protection. Many record labels are suffering from poor
record sales. What ever happened to storing your money away for a rainy
day. Labels and people a like think th money will be coming in forever.
This is really strange to me because TVT was the top indie label for
the past 7 years. No other indie label was rocking like them. It makes
me wonder where the other indie labels are at right now. No other
information is available about TVT at this point but its not looking
good right now.

Beyonce’s Dad goes in on Aretha

Beyonce’s Dad Calls Aretha a Child
Just
a day after Aretha Franklin decided that she, not Tina Turner, should
have been deemed “The Queen” by Beyonce Knowles at the Grammys,
Beyonce’s attention-scavenger dad, Matthew, decided to inject himself
into the fray.
“Something this ridiculous — it’s childish, it’s
unprofessional,” said the professional stage father in a statement
Thursday, reports People magazine. “And it’s a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess.”
Beyonce had introduced Tina Turner — her duet partner on Sunday’ show — as the Queen, which displeased the Queen of Soul.

By SPATE BLOGS | February 7, 2008 | 8 Comments »
After being signed to G-Unit for 3 years, M.O.P have decided to move on. Laze M.O.P’s manager went on the record to say that they will still work with G-Unit in some way but they are moving on and looking for a new home. There were some creative differences with 50 Cent. The major hit for M.O.P was “Ante Up” which was released 8 years ago. They have never surpassed gold status in sales. They have been signed to other power house labels like, Loud and Rocafella over the years.
