What is Nitinol alloy?
While the global population continues to grow, many countries have improved their living standards and life expectancy through globalization. With an increase in standard of living and better lifestyle choices, cardiovascular diseases (such as those affecting the heart) are on the rise. Manufacturing medical equipment for challenging conditions is where companies compete. Design and development of new materials is an important part. William J. Buehler discovered NiTi accidentally in the course of his 1958 research at White Oak Naval Ordnance Laboratory, Maryland. Nitinol Naval Ordnance Laboratory was the first to use Nitinol in medical equipment during late 1980s.
The characteristics of Ni-Ti N alloy
Ni-Ti is corrosion resistant: Some research shows that Ni Ti wire has a similar resistance to stainless steel wire. Anti-toxicity. NiTi shape-memory alloy's chemical composition is unique. In other words, it contains about 50% nickel. These alloys are known for having carcinogenic or cancer-promoting properties. Ni-Ti's surface layer, which is titanium oxide, acts as a barrier. This makes the alloy biocompatible. TiXOy, TixNiOy can be used to block the Ni release.
Principle of memory properties in nii-ti alloy
The solid phase transformation known as martensitic is responsible for the unique characteristics of Nitinol alloy. It can create 10000 to 20000psi mechanical stress in between two transformation phases. Higher temperatures cause the memory alloy to form austenite, a crystalline structure (parent phase). When the temperature is lower, the memory alloy spontaneously transforms to form a martensite structure called "Daughter phase". The conversion temperature is the temperature between martensite and austenite. There are 4 transformation temperatures. The Ms temperature is where martensite becomes austenite. A small portion of the austenite structure that changes quickly at temperatures below Ms will stop if it is not reduced further. Martensite will form when the temperature falls further. When the temperature has reached Mf's martensitic end temperature, then the martensitic transition is complete. The alloy forms martensite when it is fully heated. These temperatures, which are the starting and ending temperatures of this transformation, are known as As and Af.
The price of Nitinol Alloy
Particle size and purity in Nitinol alloy will impact the price of the product. The purchase volume may also have an effect on the cost. Large quantities of smaller amounts will result in a lower price. On our official website, you can see the Price for Nitinol Alignment.
