Hafnium Boride Powder: Hafnium Boride, or Hafnium Disboride ), is a grey-coloured crystal with metallic luster. This powder is very stable and has excellent conductivity. Although it can be mixed with many chemicals, it does not react at ambient temperatures with acidic or hydrofluoric substances. The mixture is made when hafnium dioxide and boron oxide are combined. Alternately at 2000°C, hydrogen reduction can be used to convert hafnium from oxide into bornium. It can also be used to make high-temperature alloys.

Hafnium-diboride is well-known for its excellent electrical and thermoconductive properties, high melting points, and hardness. How are Hafnium - Boride HfB2 (pulver ) made?
These are steps to make combustion synthesis hafnium–diboride powder high-purity.
1. Use diluents to mix basic ingredients. Hafnium oxide, or boric acidside, and magnesium powder are the basic ingredients. Hafniumoxide can vary in percentage from 30% to 60%. Boric acid ranges between 10% and 40%. The magnesium powder ranges anywhere from 15% up to 50%. Hafnium Diboride (an additional diluent) weighs anywhere between 0-3 times the basic material.

Hafnium–diboride makes a great choice to create wear-resistant coatings. Its use has also been looked at for use in ultra-high-temperature composites in conjunction with silicon carbide (SiC), due to its excellent refractoriness. It can be combined with silicon caride to make this material resistant to oxidation.
Temperature and pressure both play an important role in the reduction hafnium-diboride. At 1.5K or 1 MP pressure, hafnia develops its protective oxide layer. HfB2 loses its oxidation resistance when temperatures rise to more than 1600 degrees Celsius or the pressure drops below one million. In these circumstances, hafnia's protective oxide scale forms.
HfB2's thermal and strength properties make it an ideal hypervelocity vehicle. HfB2's aerodynamic nature means that it will not absorb during reentry as polymer or composite materials.
It is possible to use hafnium boreide in the control of the reactor rods.
Research using hafnium diboride is also underway to investigate hafnium diffusion barriers. If synthesized properly, it may reach thickness of 7 nanometers.
