1. A mixture of rare earth and brownytrium niobium mine ore is obtained by the extraction method. This mix contains approximately 350% Y2Oand 4% CeO2. After cerium has been removed, the raw materials are fed with the rare Earth nitrate solution. Finally the N263 LiO3 process extracts the yttriumrich rare earth. The organic phase of lutetium (thulium), ytterbium (lutetium) was separated by N263 solvent extraction. Thulium and the ytterbium then were separated by N263-heavysolvent extraction. Finally, thulium & ytterbium where separated by oxalic acids precipitation, filtering and calcination to create ytterbiumoxide.
2. Yb3+ was extracted from rare-earth ions via solvent extraction, ion swap or reduction. Yb3+ enrichment was used as a raw material. After that, the ytterbium was precipitated as hydroxide or carbonate with the appropriate precipitant. The ytterbiumoxide is made by heating the hydroxide carbonate or oxalate.
